According to the rules for playing badminton the player to serve and the player to receive must stand diagonally opposite each other. The serve must hit from below the waist in the upper hand form. The server should hit the shuttlecock so that it lands in the receiver’s court.

The rules of a badminton match between doubles are slightly different. In the double game if the side serving wins a rally, the service continues from the same player but from the other court so that he can serve the other opponent player. But if the serving side looses a rally, the service is given to the opponent side. If the score is even then the player in the right court serves, but if the score is odd the player in the left court serves. The courts for player are determined by the position of the players at the start of the previous rally.
