Jai-Alai
Jai-Alai in English and in the Basque language means "Merry Festival". The term is used to denote an open-walled arena also known as Fronton, the name refers to the game. The game is only known in some parts of America, but it is a very popular game. The game is very popular in the parts of US closest to Central and Southern America. Jai Alai is characterized as the fastest paced game on Earth. The ball can can travel up to 302 km/h (188 mph). so this proves that the game is really fast.
The game is siad to have started from Central America or Hipanic America. The history of jai alai dates back when early explorers went to the continetn and found inhabitants playing a same type of game. but it mus tbe kept in mind that jai alai history is stil not properly recorded. There is no proper record where did jai alai begin exactly.
The equipment of jai alai consists of a ball, a cesta basket and a glove. The ball also called Pelota is covered with goat-skin and weighs 125g to 140g. the glove measures approximately 63 to 70 cm (25 to 28 in) in length. The glove is also called Casta Punta in Spanish while Xistera in Basque It is to be noted that the Pelota is the hardest ball in all the sports of the world.

The court used for the game is called Cancha in the local language it can also be called arena. The jai alai arena cosists of three walls. The back wall, front wall, and the right side wall. there is also a fourth wall which is made of glass its pupose is to provide the the spectators a view of the game. the floor is also the part of the arena. The jai alai fronton is the place where the game is played in fact it is the arena or the court where the game is played.
It is most popular in the American State of Florida, where it is played as a basis for parimutuel gambling. In Miami Jai Alai is most popular because the county had the first jai-alai fronton located at the site of Hialeah Race Course near Miami around the year 1924.
How do you play jai alai? The jai alai game starts with a service and the server must bounce the ball behind the serving line, then with the help of cesta "basket" the server must hurl the ball toward the front wall. After this the game is in play.
The aim of Jai Alai is to score 7 or 9 points. The player to score 7 or points is the winner. The points in Jai Alai are awarded by the other team dropping, missing, holding, or sending the ball out of bounds. The game is not very easy to understand and it cannot be learned without proper knowledge.
As discussed previously the game is a fast paced one and the equipment used is so hard (the ball or pelota) that jai-alai injuries are a very common thing. However the injuries caused sometimes can prove fatal too. But by wearing proper equipment you cannot get injured.
